We love bragging about you. That's why we have an interview series where we feature one of our biggest fans each month. We want everyone to get a peek at the amazing work they're doing and be inspired, because they're seriously some of the coolest people we've ever met.
This month we're bragging about Jordan (@scruffy1138).
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm a 28-year-old nerd and insecure artist! I play lots of different video games, and my steam library just keeps growing... And growing.. And growing… Please send help. I have an associates in graphic design but I'm art shy. Embroidery is actually helping me build myself back up! Next step is to start making my own designs.
What is your hidden talent?
Apparently being a vampire because I can't do much of anything without getting carded.
What is the coolest (or weirdest) thing you have ever done?
The coolest would have to be roller derby! I was with North Texas Roller Derby back when I was 18 and skated for a year or two. My derby name was Scruffy Nerf Herder(thanks Star Wars!), and I've held on to the nickname Scruffy ever since. Weirdest would have to be dressing up as Ziggy Stardust and skating around my college campus. Not weird to the people who know Bowie, but very weird for people who had no idea what the hell I was doing in a one-piece outfit with flames seemingly coming from my crotch.
The song that's currently in your head?
Kiss the Go-Goat by Ghost!
The book you share with all your friends?
Fragments of Horror by Junji-Ito. It's such a nice compilation of short comics, the art is fantastic, and it's some great horror.
What superlative would you give yourself? (ie. mostly likely to become a crazy cat lady?)
Most likely to become a tatted old lady with way too many dogs.
What embroidery project are you most proud of?
The Venus flytrap from PopLush Embroidery, actually! It's the first time I went a little off pattern to add my own special touch. It felt really good!
