You’ve finished your embroidery project, it looks amazing, and now you want to finish it up so you can hang it on your wall. (Or gift it to a friend if you’re a super nice person.) Awesome! I’m here to help.
I’m going to share 3 ways you can finish your embroidery project.
The Easy Way.
This one is my favorite because it’s easy. This technique works great if you intend to hang your project on a wall or door. You can even paint the hoop to complement the design or your home’s color scheme. All you have to do is run an unknotted length of thread around the edges of the fabric (think giant running stitches). You then pull the unknotted ends tight, cinching the fabric to the back. A quick bowtie knot will hold everything in place and out of sight. Don't worry if that didn't quite make sense, I've put a video below.
The Felted Way.
This technique builds on the last by adding some batting behind the embroidery and a circular piece of felt over that. If you want a truly beautiful finish to your embroidery project, this is it. See the June Bug and Darling tutorial here.
The Framed Way.
Want to have your work look even more professional? Buy a frame! Modern Hoopla makes the most amazing frames for embroidery hoops of all sizes and shapes. This is the easiest way to elevate your embroidery to a whole new level.
Whichever way you choose to finish up your embroidery project, I hope you put it somewhere you can see it (and smile) every day.
